The week is over and Ogilvy was crowned Network of the Year, no small feat considering BBDO kept the top position for 8 years, since the inception of this award.
To put some perspective on success and creativity, check out the interview (above) to the 2012 Ogilvy & Inspire series guest, multifacetic writer, TV presenter and philosopher Alain de Botton.
His talk was one of the most provocative and entertaining. Here are some of the highlights of the session too and some Twitter buzz around it.
"We have a needs/desire confusion" says de Botton, "advertising accused of exciting our desires and ignoring our needs" #canneslions— Contagious (@contagious) June 21, 2012
Learn to feel small in a good way by looking at stars or dealing with animals, sez Alain de Botton #CannesLions— Thomas Crampton (@ThomasCrampton) June 21, 2012
There is no such thing as work-life balance if you want success; success demands sacrifice, sez de Botton #CannesLions— Thomas Crampton (@ThomasCrampton) June 21, 2012
I’ll keep posting my favourite talks and case studies throughout the week, as they become available online.
