Instant feedback is a very powerful motivator. The simple fact of reminding ourselves of what we’re doing or missing by not doing has an important influence in behaviour.

These are very good examples of airlines and tour operators doing just so.

The one above shows the a bus stop installation that displays the amount of rain fallen in Oslo to promote Norwegian Air cheap flights to sunnier destinations.

The one below is a very clever use of a mobile built-in features with similar purpose, in this case for Scandinavian Airlines (boy, these northern countries desperately need a holiday). An HTML5 page uses the iPad compass to show you the cheaper destinations around you and the GPS to mark your nearest departure point. It won a Cannes Gold Lion in Mobile.
