More than half a million kids work in the streets of Colombia. Reducing child labor is many faceted but one of the key issues is to know where these kids are.
Latin telco Telefonica developed a program which empowers anyone to report child labor when they see it. Through a phone app anyone could take a picture of the child and geo-tag it, making the data available only to the social workers of Telefonica Foundation.
Over a thousand children have been identified and 67 are already out of the streets.
This was one of the little gems that the inaugural Cannes Mobile Lions category has produced.
